Special Note for Indian Students : Course of duration for Indian Students is five and half years and the entire five and half year of course shall be conducted at Saint Lucia in the University campus which includes six month of preclinical sciences, two years of Medical sciences, two years of clinical sciences and 1 year of compulsory rotational internship in our affiliated hospitals at Saint Lucia.
4 Years Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program
CUCOM 4 Years MD curriculum is designed to prepare our graduates to practice in the U.S. and Canada. Our students receive a rigorous medical education with opportunities for early hands-on experiences in the Saint Lucia community before returning to the U.S. for clinical rotations and residency.
CUCOM, a Caribbean medical school, offers a 4-Year MD Program suitable for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in the requisite sciences. The first two years focus on basic sciences, which can be completed in either the Saint Lucia. Students then complete up to two years of clinical rotations in the US. The MD is awarded upon completion of the program.

Steps to becoming a Doctor in the US
The 4-Year MD program consists of a 157-week curriculum that is typically completed within four calendar years; all instruction is delivered in English.
Students without Bachelor’s Degree in the requisite sciences have to enrolled in 6-month Premedicine before 4-year MD program. Program is divided into two phases: Basic Sciences and Clinical Training.
- In Year 1 and Year 2 (Basic Sciences), students complete their courses on Saint Lucia campus. They learn through traditional lectures and laboratory sessions augmented by small group sessions and case-based learning exercises.
- Year 3 and Year 4 (Clinical Training) occur at CUCOM-affiliated hospitals and clinics across the US, Canada, and Saint Lucia. Bedside teaching is used, and lectures, small groups, and directed study are augmented by it.
